If you love the sand and surf, you can visit a different beach every day of your stay as Heckscher Drive is lined with beaches and parks!  Please see the Beach and Park page for more information.

Here is a link to Google maps.  It shows the area between our house, on Fannning island, and Amelia island.  All the land is national and state parks.  It is a fabulous area for miles of beaches, fishing, kayaking, horseback riding, hiking etc.  All the parks have plenty of convenient parking and have won multiple national awards.

Golf:  Enjoy the perfect golf package in Jacksonville, your ideal Florida Golf Vacation destination. There are so many choices it’s easy to find a course that fits your needs and budget.


In addition to TPC Sawgrass, you can check out golf courses such as the Cimarrone Golf Club  Known as the Wild One, recently renovated in 2008, The Champions Club at Julington Creek Rated as one of Florida’s 100 best courses by Florida Magazine. The Golf Club at South Hampton South Hampton is yet another Mark Cumber masterpiece in the Northeast Florida area. Windsor Parke Golf Club This Arthur Hills design is truly a challenge for all skill levels, and The Golf Club of North Hampton, the area’s newest golf course designed by Arnold Palmer.


The Kingsley Plantation, administered by the National Park Service, is located on Fort George Island and includes the plantation house, a kitchen house, a barn, and the ruins of 25 of the original slave cabins.

Alltel Stadium – Home to the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Biggest Tailgate party the Florida Georgia Game.  14 miles

AIA ferry to Mayport  - 1/2 mile Take the ferry across to check out Neptune, Atlantic and Jacksonville Beach as well the fresh  seafood in Mayport.


St. John’s Town Center Mall  - 16 miles new open air mall with stores such as Juicy, BCBG, Louis Vuitton as well as perennial teen favorites such as Abercrombie and Buckle.  Also has several restaurants such as the Cheesecake Factory
Downtown Jacksonville - 15 miles

Sand Dollar: Local bar and restaurant with live music on weekends.  1 mile
Nicole’s: ½ mile breakfast , lunch and dinner in a lower priced local restaurant.
There are other restaurants at Amelia Island, across in Mayport, by the Regency Mall (15 minutes) and by the St. John’s Town Center Mall.


Publix:  15 minutes


Also you can take a boat or jet ski out in the ocean (2 miles), North or South on the Intercoastal waterway (1 mile), to Alltel Stadium (for Jaguar games, Florida/Georgia game, the Gator Bowl, etc. (35 minutes by boat), or the Landing (outdoor mall on the St Johns in downtown) – 40 minutes by boat.
